At Olympic, we live & breathe the essence of champions. And it is, therefore, with great pride and excitement that we welcome South African hockey star Jamie Southgate to the Olympic team.

Humbly describing herself as “Just your average human being with a passion for hockey”, Jamie is certainly not average!

With a degree in Sports Science and Honours in High Performance Sport, Jamie has represented South Africa 105 times and is captain the SA Women’s Indoor Hockey Team (the current African champs), as well as captain of the Western Province Women’s Indoor Hockey Team (current SA champs). During indoor hockey’s off-season, you’ll find Jamie playing field hockey for WPCC in Cape Town.

Jamie runs regularly, combing road with the local trails (including some Saturday morning Park Runs), as well as gym and strength sessions as part of her active lifestyle and to ensure she’s in the best possible shape for her next international appearance.

When asked to describe Jamie in one sentence, one of her international teammates said “Jamie is loyal, kind, loving and one of my favourite humans on this earth”.
